Outside In
How would you define life? Not from a biological or chemical perspective, but the life that we as people live each and everyday. I came across the following definition and I thought it was simple, yet intriguing. Life is our experiences that are produced by our contact and interaction with the surrounding world. This is why life is so different for so many people . . . because we all have different points of contact and interaction with the world around us. I think we all would have to agree that some of those points of contact are positive and some are negative. And it would be impossible for us not to be impacted by our contact with the world around us.
So the question then becomes, am I the type of person that allows the world around me to shape who I am at the very core of my being? I would call that an outside in person. An inside out person, on the other hand, is someone that is shaped by God and then they go and impact their surrounding world. I want to live life from the inside out, not the outside in. Too often I realize how I can be tossed and turned by circumstances that take place all around me. I think I allow circumstances to impact me more than I impact those circumstances. Over my next few posts, I will try to dig in even more to explore the differences between living from the outside in verses living from the inside out. Any initial thoughts?
